So we desire a change and the first thing we do is change our look or our routine, our environment or even our spouse. Yet the first step towards changing your journey involves changing your mindset. You can change many things around you, but nothing will until your mindset and your way of thinking changes. For instance, we can buy new clothes and change our look, but that won’t make us a new person.

We need to develop what they call a growth mindset. The accomplishment of everything of all actions, of everything that came to be on earth started off from a thought, from the mind. So what we do with today and the rest of our lives reflects the content and quality of our mind and our thoughts. Our mind is our greatest asset. It is the most powerful tool in our possession. We use our mind to perceive, to think, to process feelings and emotions, attitudes. It handles our will, actions, and desires.

In the world we live today, It's easy to say ‘whatever happens, happens’. It’s easy to say ‘I don’t care’ or ignore things; even though we may have the power and influence to change things. It's easy to give up because we don’t wanna feel, or put in the extra effort; or fight, because we’ve given so much already. We think we have run out of choices, options, and have no control over anything, so some exist and some of us decide not to exist.

You need to understand that you can learn and develop. You need to believe, know and understand that you can be good at anything you want to be good at. you need to know that no matter what, all you will ever do will need effort. Mistakes and failures will happen but you need it to learn, and they are only temporary setbacks. Never take criticism as your permanent truth or a personal attack; rather see it as an area to improve, to increase your chances to succeed.

Keep going!

What is your current mindset like?

What is it costing you?

You failed in school so you believe you're not intelligent, so you will never try to achieve or do anything. You think you are not smart enough because of past failures. Because you had an abortion in the past, you feel you don’t deserve to enjoy motherhood. Or Everyone looks down at you and doesn’t expect much from you. You think there is no point trying to make an effort or difference to your life. What someone thinks of you shouldn’t determine your life. Don’t live according to someone else’s thoughts and opinions.

With honesty before the Fearless Elevation journey I was battling with my mind.  I had a lot of self-doubt, and the fear of failure. I would bring my past mistakes to mind convincing me to think I don’t deserve something or shouldn’t try something.

As a result, I missed many opportunities and made a lot of wrong decisions and mistakes. I had low self-esteem and low self-confidence and therefore isolated myself. But there 's a time where you will get tired of feeling low and constantly having more negative experiences than positive experiences. I even at one point adopted the "I don’t care" attitude, but this negative mindset only led to more negative experiences. I wasn’t being true to myself.

Your mind can keep you in bondage and block you from achieving certain things in life.

We need to fill ourselves with knowledge and understanding, the lessons you learned from past mistakes. And then master our mind, so we can use it wisely. We spend most of our lives asking so many questions rather than attempting to find the solutions and answers to them ourselves. We wait hoping, praying and wishing the answers will someday somehow come to us. Whilst in the meantime, some of us will bury ourselves in social media, and hide. Some of us would rather wallow in envy, self-pity, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, hatred, paranoia, addictions, isolation, anxiety, shame and fear. That’s because it feels so much easier.

Is your mind your prison or your key to the doors of prosperity?

There are words that a friend or even a stranger could say to you, that can have a negative influence on your thoughts and decisions, and induce fear and doubt. As a result, we will avoid doing something we plan or desire to do. We are not responsible for how the information comes to us, but our responsibility lies in what we do with that information, how we process and act on it.  Be aware that the words we hear, the knowledge we gain, influence our thoughts and actions. Your life will become a reflection of everything you know in life (learned) and have experienced.

An old man once taught me that your thoughts influence your choices. Your choices will produce your behaviours. Those same behaviours will create your experiences; and those experiences will give you the emotions, bringing you back to those same thoughts. The moment you stop thinking the same thoughts and renew your mindset (by learning new things and gaining new information) is the moment you create new experiences and new emotions.

5 Major influencers you need to re-assess right now (in no particular order)

  1. A FOCUS (Foundation)

  2. The INNER VOICE

  3. The KNOWLEDGE

  4. Good COMPANY

  5. Good HEALTH

So whenever you give up, remember the things you have overcome and how far you have come. It wouldn’t make sense to give up now. When everything doesn’t seem to go your way, analyse what was done to get you to where you are now and how you could improve and do things differently. What are you lacking? What do you need to improve? What or who do you need? What is the plan? And Why? What are you doing to improve or change your mindset? What do you want to achieve and what do you need to know more about?

Remember

The person you will be in 5 years based on everything you do today, and what you plan for tomorrow.

To do something you have never done, you must be someone you have never been.

Give up who you are now for what you can become.

Beware

Don’t lack the courage to grow past your peers!

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
